HOUSTON – Petrobras has contracted McDermott International to lay the final ultra-shallow water segment of the new 220-mi (355-km) Rota 3 gas rigid export pipeline carrying production from Santos basin presalt fields.
The scope of work covers design and detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of 6 mi (10 km) of a 24-in. rigid concrete coated pipeline from the already installed shallow-water section of this new pipeline system to the shore, with a horizontal directional drill, tie-in spools, and pre-commissioning of this nearshore section.
McDermott’s team in Rio de Janeiro will handle project management and engineering, with support from its specialists in Houston.
