WALSALL, UK – Hydratight claims to have achieved a first by supplying and supporting subsea installation of three remote connectors in three weeks for Statoil offshore Norway.
Remotely operated equipment was deployed from thePipeline Repair and Subsea Intervention Pool managed by Statoil.
During a scheduled maintenance program, MORGRIP mechanical connectors were applied to two 12-in. risers and one 16-in. riser in water depths of more than 300 m (984 ft).
The 12-in. connectors were purpose built, while the 16-in. version was taken from the PRSI contingency stock.
Offshore deployment followed site integration trials at Statoil’s PRS Base facility in Haugesund.
The ROV-controlled connectors are said to employ a unique pipe gripping and sealing system to ensure a safe and secure installation.
