STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil and partners Petoro and OMV have committed to develop the Rutil gas/condensate discovery in the Gullfaks Rimfaks valley in the North Sea.
The development, designed to extract 80 MMboe over 15 years, will extend the lifespan of the Gullfaks A platform.
Statoil’s plan for development and operation calls for the well stream to be transported through an existing subsea pipeline for processing at Kårstø north of Stavanger.
The $617-million development will involve installation of a standard subsea template with two gas production wells in 135 m (443 ft) water depth, with slots for two more wells at a later date. These will be connected by flowlines to the Gullfaks A to the northeast.
Production is expected to start in 1Q 2017, reaching a peak of 31,000 boe/d in 2019.
