Nexans to supply umbilicals for Gullfaks tiebacks

Statoil has contracted Nexans to supply the static umbilicals for the Gullfaks Rimfaksdalen project in the Norwegian North Sea.

PARIS– Statoil has contracted Nexans to supply the static umbilicals for the Gullfaks Rimfaksdalen project in the Norwegian North Sea.

The consignment will be based on a standardized fasttrack umbilical design, which integrates hydraulic, data, and fiber-optic services.

Previously the company delivered similar packages for Statoil’sOseberg Delta, Snøhvit, and Smørbukk Sør developments.

Nexans’ facility in Halden, Norway, will manufacture 9 km (6 mi) of static umbilicals for installation in 137 m (449 ft) water depth. These will be incorporated into thesubsea tieback of the Rutil and Opal gas discoveries to the Gullfaks A platform.
