The program, due to start in May, will employ Ceona’s new construction shipPolar Onyx as a pipelay support vessel (PLSV), with Ceona operating in partnership with OOG.
The vessel will join Petrobras’ growing fleet of PLSVs in deep and ultra-deepwaters, installing and recovering flexible risers, flowlines, and umbilicals in depths of up to 2,200 m (7,218 ft). It will work for the company for a firm period of 12 months.
Polar Onyx, a newbuild on charter from GC Rieber Shipping, will feature DP-3, a 250-ton anchor handling offshore crane, and a 275-ton vertical lay system, located over the moonpool.
It will be capable of installing flexible pipes and umbilicals in 3,000 m (9,842 ft) of water with high capacity for flexible pipe loads.
