STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has commissioned Aker Solutions to provide engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning services for the tie-in of the Utgard gas and condensate field to the Sleipner facilities in the Norwegian North Sea.

The NOK500-million ($61.4-million) contract covers associated platform modifications at Sleipner. In April, Statoil commissioned Aker Solutions forpreliminary engineering work to enable the tie-in.

Knut Sandvik, head of Aker Solutions’ maintenance, modifications and operations business, said: “We’ve worked closely with Statoil to find the most cost-efficient solution for this project, which builds on our capabilities in complex modifications.”

Statoil is developing Utgard via a subsea template connected by pipeline to the Sleipner T processing and carbon dioxide removal platform, and by umbilical to the Sleipner A processing, drilling and living quarters platform.

Work is expected to be completed during 4Q 2019, with pre-fabrication conducted at Aker Solutions’ yard in Egersund.
