Stinger deploys adapted ROV for North Sea Siri tank review
Stinger Technology AS has taken delivery of a customized Seaeye Falcon ROV for use in subsea inspection operations in the Danish North Sea.
The storage tank measures 50 x 66 m (164 x 216 ft) and is 17.5 m (57.4 ft) high, with a storage capacity of 50,000 cu m (1.76 MMcf).
It is split internally into 16 compartments, some of which are only accessible through a 10-in. jumper pipe.
Stinger selected the Seaeye Falcon ROV to transport a VideoRay vehicle which is small enough to enter the different compartments of the tank.
A specially developed tether management system (TMS) is mounted under the Falcon ROV carrying the VideoRay umbilical.
The Falcon has been supplied in a customized version with an additional power and electric motor for driving the TMS. The scope of supply also includes an extensive spare parts package and a technical training course, held at the facilities of MacArtney Norway in Stavanger.
