FAREHAM, UK – Stinger Technology AS has taken delivery of a customized Seaeye Falcon ROV for use in subsea inspection operations in the Danish North Sea.

The assignment includes environmental sampling and inspection inside the oil storage tank of theSiri platform, operated by DONG Energy, 220 km (137 mi) offshore.

The storage tank measures 50 x 66 m (164 x 216 ft) and is 17.5 m (57.4 ft) high, with a storage capacity of 50,000 cu m (1.76 MMcf).

It is split internally into 16 compartments, some of which are only accessible through a 10-in. jumper pipe.

Stinger selected the Seaeye Falcon ROV to transport a VideoRay vehicle which is small enough to enter the different compartments of the tank.

A specially developed tether management system (TMS) is mounted under the Falcon ROV carrying the VideoRay umbilical.

The Falcon has been supplied in a customized version with an additional power and electric motor for driving the TMS. The scope of supply also includes an extensive spare parts package and a technical training course, held at the facilities of MacArtney Norway in Stavanger.
