Unique orders Kongsberg instruments for seabed mapping

SINGAPORE — Unique Group has contracted Kongsberg Discovery to provide seabed mapping and compact acoustic positioning technology for use in the APAC region.
The $1.7 million order covers cNODE transponders, calibration-free µPAP SSBL systems and the recently introduced, lightweight EM2042 multi-beam echo sounder.
Unique will use the deliveries to expand its subsea equipment rental pool.
The EM2042 multi-beam systems will support client requests for standalone rental and for installation on Unique’s Uni-Max USV for seabed mapping and hydrographic surveys.
The system provides a quad-swathe high ping rate and predictive pitch for beam steering, said to enable increased productivity as higher survey speeds can be achieved without reduced data quality.
