WellSentinel monitoring subsea wellheads

Sentinel Subsea has deployed WellSentinel wellhead systems in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore Brazil via a collaboration with Baker Hughes.

WellSentinel passive integrity monitoring features passive systems designed to continuously monitor the integrity of subsea wells and repurposed carbon capture sites without the need for active subsea power or data communication.

ABERDEEN, UK — Sentinel Subsea has deployed WellSentinel wellhead systems in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore Brazil via a collaboration with Baker Hughes.

WellSentinel is designed to provide continuous remote monitoring for subsea assets. The passive innovation is pre-set to chemically detect a selected fluid and nothing else it may encounter in the subsea environment.

Detection leads to releases of an alert beacon to the sea surface. The detection process does not involve use of active power or subsea data communication. Once at the surface, the individually asset-coded alert beacon activates and communicates via satellite to inform the asset owner of a potential issue.

WellSentinel Coral wellhead solutions have been developed for two oil and gas operators. The systems were installed on various subsea wellheads and are providing passive monitoring of the assets within the mature fields at varying water depths.
