LEIDSCHENDAM, the NetherlandsMaersk Supply Service has contracted Fugro to perform subsea survey and positioning duties offshore Brazil.

These will support installation of an anchoring system for the FPSO Sepetiba for Petrobras’ Mero 2 development in the presalt Santos basin.

Operations will start shortly and continue for around four months. Fugro will deploy its QuickVision augmented reality camera, a touchless, vision-based approach proven last year on Mero 1; and its Starfix navigation camera system, said to eliminate the need for personnel to mount sensors on subsea facilities.

It will use these technologies to help guide installation of 24 subsea torpedo piles and mooring lines, and to support real-time positioning for other subsea installation and construction tasks.
