HOUSTONBHP has selected McDermott International Ltd. to provide a marine installation campaign for the Shenzi subsea multi-phase pumping project in the Gulf of Mexico.

The project is located about 138 mi (222 km) offshore at a water depth of 4,400 ft (1,341 m).

The scope of the contract includes: project management; detailed design and fabrication for a pump station suction pile; umbilical, flexible jumpers, and flying leads installation; transport of all materials and equipment; and pre-commissioning services and other necessary testing and surveys.

Engineering, procurement, and project management services will be led by McDermott’s Houston engineering group. The company’s North Ocean 102 vessel will transport and install the material and equipment.

The project will start immediately and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2022.

The Shenzi TLP is 120 mi (195 km) offshore Louisiana and is installed in about 4,300 ft (1,311 m) of water on Green Canyon block 653. The field comprises four blocks: Green Canyon 609, 610, 653, and 654. Production began in September 2009.

Also, McDermott is providing front-end engineering design of a semisubmersible floating production unit for BHP’s Trion project offshore Mexico.
