LUXEMBOURGPetrobras has contracted Subsea 7 to provide equipment for the Mero-3 field development in the presalt Santos basin.

The location is 200 km (124 mi) from the coast of Rio de Janeiro State, in 2,200 m (7,218 ft) water depth.

Subsea 7’s work scope covers engineering, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of 80 km (49.7 mi) of rigid risers and flowlines for the steel lazy wave production system; 60 km (37 mi) of flexible service lines; 50 km (31 mi) of umbilicals and associated infrastructure; installation of FPSO mooring lines; and hookup.

Project management and engineering will take place at the company’s offices in Rio de Janeiro and Paris, with fabrication of the pipelines performed at the spoolbase at Ubu in the state of Vitória.

Offshore operations are scheduled for 2023 and 2024, using the company’s reeled rigid pipelay vessels.
