ULSTEINVIK, Norway – Island Offshore’s subsea construction vessel Island Victory has started a 60 to 90-day contract for Ocean Installer in the Barents Sea, off northern Norway.

The vessel will support development programs on Equinor’s Askeladd and Johan Castberg projects.

At Askeladd, a tie-in to the Snohvit subsea infrastructure, the scope of work includes installation of subsea manifolds and performing survey and other subsea activity, using the vessel’s two work ROVs and its 250-metric ton (275-ton) offshore crane.

For Johan Castberg, the Island Victory will install a mooring system, including 15 suction anchors and 11,450 m (37,565 ft) of Ø170mm chain, the latter weighing around 590 kg/m in air.

Tommy Walaunet, Managing Director of Island Offshore Management said: “The vessel and its crew have already completed some heavy jobs in the Barents Sea this winter.

Island Victory has carried out several pre-lays of anchor systems - jobs where she substituted three vessels alone, proving unparalleled capacity and significant savings both for the customer and for the environment. It also reduces operational risk.”
