ALPHEN AAN DEN RIJN, the NetherlandsTechnipFMC has contracted Frames to provide hydraulic control systems for subsea wells and subsea isolation valves for Eni’s Merakes field development offshore Indonesia.

This is a deepwater gas tieback to the Jangkrik FPU stationed off East Kalimantan. Production from Merakes will be exported from the FPU through existing pipelines to the Bontang LNG processing complex.

Frames will supply a production HPU, a topsides umbilical termination unit and a subsea isolation valve control panel, which collectively will enable control and operation of the new subsea wells and subsea isolation valves.

The production HPU is rated for pressures up to 459 barg, and is designed for autonomous operation, although the operator can temporarily assume control via a local interface during scheduled maintenance.

According to Frames, the system is certified to DNV 2.7-3 for offshore lift from the supply vessel onto the Jangkrik platform, and the compact design will ensure the hydraulic control systems fits within the available deck space.
