Vantage Drilling completes sale of Tungsten Explorer drillship

Vantage will continue to manage the rig for TEVA Ship Charter for at least the next 10 years.

Vantage Drilling International Ltd. has announced the completion of the sale of theTungsten Explorer drillship to TEVA Ship Charter LLC, the joint venture entity owned 25% by Vantage and 75% by TotalEnergies.

In line with previous announcements, Vantage says that it will continue to manage the rig for a 10-year term with the option to extend for an additional five years.

Built in 2013, the Tungsten Explorer has a hookload capacity of 2.5 million pounds, a power capacity of 42MW, a thrust capacity of 33MW, and a managed pressure drilling system. 

Ihab Toma, CEO of Vantage Drilling, said that with the completion of the sale of the Tungsten Explorer, his company can “now look forward to a productive and mutually beneficial relationship for the joint venture with [its] client and partner TotalEnergies.”
