Lankhorst delivers moorings to SOFEC for deepwater Brazil FPSO

Lankhorst Euronete Brazil has completed delivery of polyester mooring lines and thimbles for the FPSO Cidade de Itaguai MV26 in the Santos basin offshore Brazil, under a contract with SOFEC Inc.

SNEEK, the Netherlands – Lankhorst Euronete Brazil has completed delivery of polyester mooring lines and thimbles for the FPSOCidade de Itaguai MV26 in the Santos basin offshore Brazil, under a contract with SOFEC Inc. 

The spread mooring system comprises 24 legs, arranged in four groups of six legs at each corner of the FPSO. Each mooring line contains three 959-m (3,146-ft) polyester Cabral 512 ropes segments and steel roulette thimbles. Additionally LEB has supplied three polyester rope segments and thimbles for one spare line.

In total, LEB has supplied 75,000 m (246,062 ft) of Ultra Deep Water Cabral 512 rope, with a minimum breaking load of 1,197 metric tons (1,319 tons), to permanently moor theCidade de Itaguaí in a water depth of approximately 2,240 m (7,349 ft).

Scheduled to begin production in 2016, the FPSO is designed to process 150,000 b/d of oil, 280 MMcf/d of gas, and has a storage capacity of 1.6 MMbbl of total fluids.
