Japanese consortium backs Búzios floater venture

TOKYO – Mitsui, MOL, and Marubeni have agreed to invest in a long-term charter business that MODEC is promoting to supply an FPSO for the Búzios field in the presalt Santos basin offshore Brazil.

The venture, known as MV32 B.V., recently negotiated a 21-year long-term charter agreement with Petrobras.

The FPSO Almirante Barroso MV32 will be spread-moored in 1,900 m (6,233 ft) water depth at Búzios, 180 km (112 mi) offshore Rio de Janeiro, in 2022.

Its main features will include:

Oil processing capacity: 150,000 b/d

Gas processing capacity: 212 MMcf/d

Oil storage capacity: 1.4 MMbbl.
