Preparation will start in first-quarter 2026, construction is scheduled to begin in first-quarter 2027, and delivery is expected in 2029.
Dragados Offshore has contracted Aker Solutions to supply the substructure for the 2-GW HVDC converter station for the BalWin2 offshore wind grid connection system in German waters.
Amprion Offshore is the transmission system developer.
Commenting on the award, Sturla Magnus, executive vice president for Aker Solutions’ New Build segment, said, "This will enable us to leverage our standardization and industrialization efforts to increase productivity and drive down cost.”
The work scope covers procurement, fabrication engineering and construction of the platform substructure. Preparation will start early next year, with construction getting underway at Aker Solutions’ yard in Verdal, Norway in first-quarter 2027, followed by delivery in 2029.
