Fugro assessing South Korean site for offshore wind potential

LEIDSCHENDAM, the Netherlands — Kredo Offshore has commissioned Fugro to perform metocean and wind measurements offshore Yeonggwang County in western South Korea.

Fugro’s scope covers use of technology, provisioning, operations, maintenance and data reporting.

Initial investigations are in progress at the project site to determine the suitability for an offshore wind development, with four Seawatch Lidar buoys deployed to take readings from wind, waves, current and meteorological conditions.

Data collection will take place over the next 12 months, with real-time data supplied to Kredo and its consultants ahead of final reporting.
