PARIS, France — The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has named TotalEnergies winner of maritime lease area OCS-A 0545 on the U.S. east coast, under the Carolina Long Bay auction.

TotalEnergies bid $160 million to develop an offshore wind farm in the 222-sq-km (85.7-sq-mile) lease area, 37 km (23 miles) offshore North Carolina.

The project, expected to come online by 2030, should generate more than 1 GW of power to more than 300,000 households.

In February TotalEnergies secured a lease to develop a 3-GW wind farm off the coast of New York and New Jersey.
