    Trio to develop mobile offshore wind units

    Odfjell Oceanwind has entered a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Siemens Gamesa and Siemens Energy to develop mobile offshore wind units.

    KOKSTAD, Norway – Odfjell Oceanwind has entered a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Siemens Gamesa and Siemens Energy to develop mobile offshore wind units (MOWU).

    Odfjell Oceanwind intends to use their technologies on its MOWUs.

    Based on Odfjell Oceanwind’s WindGrid hybrid for micro-grids, the harsh environment semisubmersible units are expected to feature Siemens Energy’s BlueVault energy storage solution and Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 DD or SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines.

    The first units are expected to be ready in 2024.
