ABERDEEN, UK – Simply Blue Energy has contracted Wood to perform pre-front-end engineering design for the proposed Western Star floating offshore wind project, 35 km (21.7 mi) from Co. Clare coast.
A cross-functional team will review multiple floating platform designs against the site-specific criteria, adopting a lifecycle approach to capex, construction and operational costs in order to identify a solution that provides the lowest levelized cost of energy.
Simply Blue Energy is developing Western Star in parallel with its Saoirse wave energy conversion array, in both cases targeting zero-carbon electricity.
