ZAMUDIO, Spain – The EDF Renewables-Enbridge-wpd consortium has contracted Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to deliver the turbines for the 448-MW Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind power project in France.
It includes the delivery of 64 SWT-7.0-154 offshore wind turbines and a 15-year service and maintenance agreement.
Both the wind turbine nacelles and blades for the Courseulles-sur-Mer project are scheduled to be produced at the company’s facility currently under construction in Le Havre. The plant is expected to be operational in the first half of 2022. According to the company, this facility will be the first in the world to manufacture complete offshore nacelles and blades under one roof.
Located 10 km (6.2 mi) off the Bessin coast, installation and commissioning of the Courseulles-sur-Mer project is scheduled for 2024.
Last year, the consortium ordered 71 SWT-7.0-154 wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa for the 497-MW Fécamp wind power project offshore France.
