ZWIJNDRECHT, Belgium – INEOS has agreed to what it claims is the largest ever industrial wind power purchase contract in Belgium with ENGIE.
Under the 10-year agreement, INEOS has purchased 84 MW of renewable electricity from the Norther offshore wind farm in the Belgian North Sea from Jan. 1, 2021.
The company is expected to use the renewable energy at its existing production sites and later by Project ONE, its investment in two chemical plants for the production of ethylene and propylene in Antwerp.
According to the company, this will reduce its carbon footprint in Belgium by 1,150,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions.
