NEW ORLEANS – Personnel remain evacuated from 278 production platforms and nine rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE).
Four dynamically positioned rigs remain off location.
From 25 operator reports, BSEE estimates that about 93.69% of the current oil production in the Gulf of Mexico has been shut in. This equates to 1,705,095 b/d of oil. BSEE estimates that about 94.47% of the gas production in the Gulf has been shut in. This equates to 2,107 MMcf/d of gas.
Shell has reported it conducted a flyover for an initial assessment of assets that were in the path of the storm and was able to confirm that Mars, Olympus, and Ursa are all intact and on location. Also, the FPSO Turritella has resumed production. Its Perdido spar platform in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico remained on line throughout Hurricane Ida. All other assets remain shut in and are fully evacuated.
