ABERDEEN, UK — Ithaca Energy has made a discovery in the K2 prospect in Block 22/14c in the UK central North Sea.
The exploratory well encountered hydrocarbons in the reservoir in the Forties member sandstones, with 45 ft net thickness.
Logs were taken to determine reservoir quality, and further analysis of the well results will follow to help firm up the recoverable resource estimate.
Ithaca and 50:50 joint venture partner Dana Petroleum have also sanctioned an appraisal sidetrack following these positive results in the main bore.
