PAPENDRECHT, the NetherlandsCopenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and four contractors will bid jointly for development of a planned energy island in the Danish North Sea.

The Danish Energy Agency is in dialogue with potential bidders for the energy island tender, which should be issued by next summer.

ACCIONA, Boskalis, DEME, and MT Højgaard International will work in partnership as the ‘NJORD Group,’ offering the full range of equipment and staff to execute the project.

The energy island will be 80-100 km (50-62 mi) off the Danish west coast, where conditions are said to be optimal for green energy production based on offshore wind.

It will connect 10 GW of offshore wind to Denmark and neighboring countries, also housing an innovation zone with potential for large-scale energy storage, with accommodation and operation and maintenance services provided from onsite harbor facilities.
