FORNEBU, NorwayAker Solutions, Siemens Energy, and Doosan Babcock have formed a consortium to develop technologies and solutions for the UK’s carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) market.

The UK has set targets for its contribution to global climate objectives. The consortium plans to provide solutions to support these goals, also helping to develop new jobs and industrial opportunities.

Collectively the three companies employ more than 6,500 staff in the UK and can provide combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) engineering and design, along with UK-based engineering, fabrication, and construction services.

Aker Solutions has also been working on CO2 treatment solutions since the 1990s and will serve as project integrator.

The consortium is also collaborating with Aker Carbon Capture, a specialist in CO2 capture technology featuring low solvent degradation and low emissions.

Siemens Energy has a track record in the UK of delivering CCGT power plants, operations and maintenance capabilities. Doosan Babcock is an engineering and construction company experienced in the construction, rehabilitation, and retrofit of power plants.

Earlier this year, Aker Solutions formed a separate consortium with Siemens Energy to provide high-voltage, direct current converter stations for ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia Three offshore wind project in the UK North Sea.

In March, Aker Solutions also teamed up with Doosan Babcock to pursue low-carbon solutions and renewable energy for projects in the UK.
