PERTH, AustraliaHartshead Resources is considering multiple platforms for two gas field developments in the UK southern North Sea.

The company has identified an additional 112 bcf of gas‐initially‐in place (GIIP) in the Viking Wx field, lifting the total Phase I GIIP to 603 bcf (along with the Victoria field).

It follows Xodus’ recent delivery of the Viking Wx geo-cellular static field model based on new analysis and interpretation of existing seismic and well data.

This model will now be used to construct a full field dynamic reservoir simulation model to match against historic gas production from the field, and then to optimize frac and well placement.

Fraser Well Management has completed drilling and completion cost estimates for platform and subsea production wells for the various Phase I greenfield development concepts, following a review of the well trajectories from a single or dual drill center.

Petrofac will use the data to prepare a greenfield concept select report/ Hartshead’s preference is for two wireline-capable production platforms, one each at Viking Wx and one at Victoria, citing reduced drilling risk compared with a single platform development.

In addition, production from Viking Wx will likely tie in subsea to the Victoria export pipeline, allowing both platforms to operate independently, mitigating outages on one platform stopping production from the other.
