bp awarded first exploration block offshore northern Trinidad

bp has secured the NCMA 2 Block 30 km offshore Trinidad’s north coast, under the Shallow Water 2023/24 bid round that closed in May.

This is a new area of exploration for the company in Trinidad & Tobago. All its current production comes from the Columbus Basin offshore Trinidad’s east coast. 

Since the start of this year, bp Trinidad & Tobago has completed an infill drilling program, divested certain mature offshore assets, and entered a joint venture with EOG Resources for the Coconut field development.

The company is now close to concluding its Cypre field development drilling campaign.
