DUBLIN, Ireland – Jamaica’s government has authorized United Oil & Gas to assume operatorship of the offshore Walton Morant license.

The company is now 100% equity holder after taking on the 80% stake held by former operator Tullow Jamaica. At the same time, the government has extended initial exploration period of the license – now reduced in size to 22,400 sq km (8,648 sq mi) – by 18 months.

Work is under way to continue de-risking the Colibro prospect, which has estimated prospective resources in the range 229-513 MMbbl, and other targets including Moonraker, Thunderball, Moneypenny, Jaws, Goldfinger, Vesper, Oriole, Earspot and Rumpspot, ahead of a drill decision.

United CEO Brian Larkin added that the company would seek to bring in partners to the license.

Since the company farmed into the concession in 2017, survey work has included acquisition and interpretation of 2,250 sq km (869 sq mi) of 3D seismic and re-interpretation of 3,650 km (2,268 mi) of existing 2D data.
