Preparations have started for towing the concrete gravity structure to the West White Rose platform location offshore Newfoundland & Labrador.
This will be followed by mating with the topsides during the summer, operator Cenovus Energy said in an update. The SNC Lavalin-Dragados-Penncon joint venture is building the concrete structure, with Aker Solutions (Marine) responsible for the tow-out.
Allseas will install the topsides.
At present the project is around 90% complete and on track to deliver first oil in Q2, 2026.
Once onstream, the company expects to add around 45,000 b/d of light sweet oil to its global production.
