ABU DHABI, UAE – Wintershall is acquiring a 10% stake in the Ghasha ultra-sour gas concession offshore Abu Dhabi, joining existing partners ADNOC and Eni.
The 40-year concession contains the Hail, Ghasha and Dalma gas/condensate fields in the Arab basin in the Dhafra region, all of which are under development.
ADNOC plans to start production in the mid-2020s with a view to delivering more than 1.5 bcf/d to the UAE’s domestic sector and more than 120,000 b/d of oil/condensate.
During 1Q 2019, the government will likely award the first exploration and production licenses for six offshore and onshore blocks opened earlier this year underAbu Dhabi’s first international bidding round.
