STAVANGER, Norway – A new “hyper-duplex” material for deep, remote exploration is featured by Sandvik at the Offshore Northern Seas Conference this year. The stainless tube material provides ultra-high strength and corrosion resistance for the wellhead control systems used in enhanced oil and gas recovery methods, according to Sandvik.
Sandvik SAF 3207 HD has been developed in anticipation of demands for more remote and deeper subsea umbilicals. Its ability to withstand crevice corrosion at seawater temperature makes the new special-purpose material ideal for very deep umbilical applications in extreme conditions. Its higher yield strength withstands increased pressures, enables thinner wall umbilicals to reduce reel sizes and lower installation costs.
