PARIS – The Total-led CI-GNL (Ivory Coast LNG) consortium has won the rights to build and operate a liquefied natural gas (LNG) re-gasification terminal in Côte d’Ivoire with a capacity of 3 MM tons/yr.
Total will operate the project with a 34% interest, in partnership with PetroCI, CI Energies, SOCAR, Shell, Golar, and Endeavor Energy.
LNG volumes will be provided from Total’s global portfolio in proportion to its participating interest in the project. The re-gasification terminal should become operational by mid-2018.
It involves construction of a terminal with a floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) in Vridi, in the Abidjan area, and an offshore/onshore pipeline connecting the FSRU to existing and planned power plants in Abidjan, as well as to regional markets connected to the Ivorian network.
This will enable Côte d’Ivoire to becomeWest Africa’s first regional LNG import Hub, Total added.
