PARIS– Total has discovered light oil with its first well on the CI-100 block offshore Cote d’Ivoire.

Ivoire-1X was drilled in the western part of the block in 2,280 m (7,480 ft) of water. It encountered 28 m (92 ft) of net oil pay in a series of Cretaceous reservoirs extending more than 100 m (328 ft).

The result confirmed the extension into the block of the petroleum system proven in the Tano basin offshoreGhana, which includes the producing Jubilee field.

Total is using the data acquired during drilling to develop an appraisal program for the reservoirs discovered and to assess identified prospects further east, closer to the recent Ghanaian discoveries.

Partners in the block are Yam’s Petroleum LLC and Petroci Holding.
