IRVING, Texas – Egypt’s government has awarded ExxonMobil two offshore exploration blocks.
One is the 1.2-million-acre (4,856-sq km) North Marakia Offshore block, 5 mi (8 km) off the country’s north coast in the Herodotus basin.
The other, spanning 543,000 acres (2,197 sq km), is the North East El Amriya Offshore block in the Nile Delta.
ExxonMobil will operate both concessions with a 100% interest. The company expects to start seismic data acquisition in 2020.
