BW Energy leads consortium awarded two blocks offshore Gabon

BW Energy has provisionally secured operatorship of two blocks under Gabon’s 12th Offshore Licensing Round.

OSLO, NorwayBW Energy has provisionally secured operatorship of two blocks under Gabon’s 12th Offshore Licensing Round.

The award remains subject to finalization of the production sharing contract (PSC) with the Direction Generale des Hydrocarbures (DGH).

Blocks G12-13 and H12-13, covering a respective area of 2,989 sq km (1,154 sq mi) and 1,929 sq km (745 sq mi), are both adjacent to BW Energy’s Dussafu license. The company will operate with a 37.5% interest, in partnership with VAALCO Energy (37.5%) and Panoro Energy (25%).

During the PSCs’ eight-year exploration period (extendable by a further two years), the partners will drill exploration wells and perform 3D seismic.

Over the past 15 years the partners have undertaken exploration, development, and production projects on both the Dussafu and Etame PSCs, discovering 250 MMbbl to date and putting numerous fields into production.
