LONDONTower Resources expects to drill the NJOM-3 well offshore Cameroon during 1Q 2022, depending on rig negotiations.

The company is reviewing various candidate rigs, one of which should be available early next year and another later in 1Q.

If the test result from NJOM-3 is successful, Tower would look to drill three further wells deviated into different parts of the Njonji structure from the NJOM-3 well location.

All four wells would feature wellheads above the water on a simple steel structure, which would also brace the four conductors. This should simplify access to the wellheads for a MOPU and shuttle tanker.

Specification and procurement of the MOPU represents the greatest operational risk to the schedule and budget for first oil. The company has initiated talks with contractors on a co-operation to either procure or construct a suitable unit under a joint venture.

Off South Africa, Tower expects to take decisions over the next few months with NewAge concerning further 3D seismic acquisition over the Algoa-Gamtoos license.

Tower’s preferred focus would be on leads in the deepwater Outeniqua basin section of the block, thought to hold a potential recoverable resource of more than 1.4 Bboe.

In the meantime, it will monitor Shell and Total’s upcoming wells in the Namibian Orange basin.
