ABERDEEN, UK --Oilexco has started production from its Brenda and Nicol fields in the UK central North Sea. The one Nicol and three Brenda development wells should deliver in total around 30,000 b/d of oil during the first year of production.

Both fields have been developed as subsea tiebacks to the Balmoral field sem-submersible platform, 9-km (5.6 mi) northeast of Brenda in block 16/21a. This is Olexco's first development project in the UK sector.

In central block 22/14b, the company has successfully drill stem tested the Upper Jurassic Fulmar sand in its recent Huntington light oil discovery. The test flowed 39deg API oil at 4,624b/d and associated gas of 1.6MMcf/d through a 64/64-in, choke, with a flowing tubing pressure of 310 psia.

On suspension of the Upper Jurassic Fulmar zone, Oilexco will start another DST in Huntington's Palaeocene Forties interval, followed by further appraisal drilling this fall.
