HONG KONG -- CNOOC Ltd. says production began on Sept. 24 from the second phase facilities of the Southeast Sumatra gas project (SES) from facilities in 30 m (98 ft) water depth about 120 km (75 mi) offshore West Java.
The development facilities include a production/processing platform, a gas plant, a gas compression/ processing platform, and three subsea pipelines.
The SES project is to supply 78.4 MMcf/d of gas plants owned by state power company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara.
SES phase one production began last year.
CNOOC operates the SES project with 65.5% interest. Partners are INPEX Sumatra, Ltd., KNOC Sumatra Ltd., Orchard Energy Sumatra BV, Fortuna Resources (Sunda) Ltd., Talisman UK (Southeast Sumatra) Ltd. and Talisman Resources (Bahamas).
