GUILDFORD, UK --ATP expects to start production later this month from its Wenlock gas field in the UK southern North Sea.

In July, the company completed and tested the Wenlock W1 well, which includes a record (for ATP) 3,900 ft (1,189 m) horizontal section. Modifications to the host platform are finished, with final commissioning nearly completed. ATP expects further upside from nearby drilling opportunities which it is evaluating.

In the same sector, the company is progressing its fourth development well (K3) on Tors. The well's first lateral has been drilled, and the second lateral should be completed early in December. K3 should be on stream before year-end, lifting output from Tors to 60-80 MMcf/d of natural gas.

ATP is also in discussions with various parties concerning a scaling down of some of its properties in the North Sea.
