Schiedam, the Netherlands – SBM Offshore NV reports that a letter of agreement has been signed for SBM to provide a semisubmersible production facility for BP’s Tubular Bells field in the Gulf of Mexico. The $170-million agreement covers design, construction, installation, and operation.
The final lease and operate contract will be based on a production handling agreement for the facility for five-years to start.
This will be BP’s first Lauri basin production. First oil from the subsea development is scheduled by 2014.
Tubular Bells is in Mississippi Canyon 683 in a water depth of 1,311 m (4,326 ft). It was discovered in late 2003.
