French telecommunications supplier Alcatel contracted by Technip for integrated system for Akpo FPSO

Technip has contracted Alcatel to supply an integrated telecommunications system for the Akpo FPSO offshore Nigeria. Alcatel will design, procure, integrate, install and commission the entire system, comprising over 25 sub-systems. These will include public address/general alarm, radio systems, CCTV, OmniPCX Enterprise communications servers, telephone and data.
Installation and integration will be conducted onboard the FPSO at Hyundai's yard in Korea, followed by commissioning both in Korea and Nigeria. Akpo is operated by Total Upstream Nigeria, and is due onstream in summer 2008.
