STAVANGER, Norway -- Volve field process module started on trip from Thailand to Haugesund, Norway. Installation on Maersk Inspirer will depend upon the weather.
TheEide Transporter is carrying the 3,500-metric ton process modue, and 500-metric ton wellhead module to the Vetco Aibel yard with arrival expected about Oct. 20. Drilling is expected to begin 1Q07 with production to begin in 2Q07.
Volve's recoverable reserves are estimated at 70 MMbbl of oil and 1.5 Bcm of gas. Plans call for the gas to go to Statoil's Sleipner A platform for final processing and export, with the oil going into theNavion Saga storage vessel.
"The export pipelines and loading buoy were installed in the summer," said Svein Løining, project manager for the Volve field. "Now only the covering of the pipelines remains before both the platform and storage vessel can be installed at the field."
