Offshore staff
(Trondheim) Norway plans to establish a new integrated operations center of excellence in Trondheim. The driving forces are the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Sintef Group, and the Institute for Energy Technology, with support from five of the main oil companies active on the Norwegian shelf.
A new digital control room has already been built, which will serve as a simulator for Norwegian sector oil and gas field operations. Industry personnel and students will be able to use it to conduct research and practice offshore-related tasks, with real-time access to all data from platforms and other installations.
The main activities at the center will be education, innovation and research. There are plans to educate 150 Masters students with integrated operations skills over the next five years.
