Production starts from Weizhou oil field offshore China

CNOOC (NYSE: CEO, SEHK: 00883) has started production from the Weizhou 6-12 oil field in the South China Sea.

HONG KONG – CNOOC (NYSE: CEO, SEHK: 00883) has started production from the Weizhou 6-12 oil field in the South China Sea.

The location is in the Beibu Gulf basin in the northern part of the sea in an average water depth of about 29.2 m (96 ft). The project involved drilling 10 production wells, with plateau production expected later this year.

CNOOC has a 51% operating interest in partnership with Roc Oil (China), Horizon Oil (Beibu) (including Petsec Petroleum LLC), and Oil Australia.
