SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy– Eni’s Nooros field in the Nile Delta offshore Egypt has hit what it calls a record-setting production rate of 128,000 boe/d (67,000 net to Eni) just 13 months after discovery.

The company said this capacity was achieved ahead of schedule due to the success of the last exploration wells drilled in the Nidoco area and the drilling of new development wells.

Seven wells are currently producing at a rate of 700 MMcf/d of gas; with the drilling of additional wells, the field is expected to reach a maximum production capacity of about 160,000 boe/d by next spring.

The gas and condensate produced are sent to Abu Madi’s treatment system, located 25 km (16 mi) from the discovery and then allocated in the Egyptian network.

The development and production of the Nooros field are operated by Petrobel on behalf of Nidoco company, a joint venture between IEOC, BP and the state company Egyptian General Petroleum Corp.
