CNOOC starts up tri-field Lufeng oil project offshore China

CNOOC has started production from the Lufeng oil fields Phase II development in the eastern South China Sea.

HONG KONG — CNOOC has started production from the Lufeng oil fields Phase II development in the eastern South China Sea, in 136 m water depth.

This encompasses the Lufeng 8-1, Lufeng 9-2 and Lufeng 14-8 oil fields.

CNOOC, which operates with a 100% interest, installed one new drilling platform and plans to eventually bring 13 production wells and one water injector onstream.

Production should reach a peak of about 22,600 bbl/d of crude oil in 2025.
