ABERDEEN — EnQuest has, on behalf of the PM8 extension (PM8E) production sharing contract (PSC) parties, signed an agreement with Petronas to support Peninsular Malaysia’s gas demand by providing additional gas from the Seligi Field through the existing PM8E PSC facilities until year-end 2025.

This agreement is expected to increase EnQuest’s gas production by about 25 MMscf/d (50 MMscf/d gross), initially from associated gas, with the partnership assessing the drilling of additional gas-producing wells over time.

EnQuest, mostly focused on the North Sea, acquired an interest in the PM8/Seligi oil field in Malaysia in 2014 to expand beyond the core UK market.

In the company's full-year 2022 results, it reported average production in Malaysia during 2022 was 6,458 boe/d, with production efficiency of 87%. "Production at PM8/Seligi was boosted by a successful four-well workover campaign and the delivery of the group’s first three horizontal wells, partially offset by natural declines and compressor downtime," the company stated.
